5 Marketing Trends To Grow Your Business

Quick straw poll: are you reading this on your mobile phone? Have you read any other blog posts today? Did you check Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat when you woke up this morning? Now, think back five years. It’s likely your routine has changed dramatically , and guess what — things aren’t slowing down.

For anyone who works in marketing, runs a business, or needs to get the word out about an event, project or cause, products, getting leads, and what’s hot on the Web is now a necessity. Read on to see what marketing trends we’re anticipating for now and the future:

1. Good visuals are essential

If you’re like the majority of smartphone users, you checked your phone within 15 minutes of waking up this morning. More than likely, you checked Facebook, Instagram, and maybe even Snapchat. What do each of these have in common? Yep, they’re image-based. We seen the rapid growth of visual content creation and consumption, and this will continue.  The number of photos uploaded and shared has increased exponentially over the past few years.

This trend will only get bigger since we are “Visual.”

In fact, the human brain processes images 60,000 times faster than text, and 90 percent of information transmitted to the brain is visual. … Human beings are visual creatures.

2. Mobile is here to stay

This isn’t a new trend, but there’s no ignoring the increasing relevance of mobile to marketers. More than 50% of emails are now opened on mobile devices, not optimizing for mobile devices means you’re missing out. This trend is growing each and every day.  Forbes writer Steve Cooper says this means you need to think differently about your content. For example, when you receive an email on your iPhone, or any smartphone, you only see about 30 characters in the subject line. His suggestion: put the most important information up-front so it doesn’t get lost.

3. The best content wins

Not surprisingly, this is another field that is growing rapidly. At last count, there were more than 15 million brands with their own Facebook page. Changes to the Facebook and Google algorithms have prioritized good quality content. If you want your brand to stand out from all the noise, you need to produce content that is timely, valuable and well thought-out. Google has continued to make changes that promote good quality, as HubSpot’s Kieran Flanagan explains. As more companies adopt a content marketing strategy, it’s going to become more difficult to stand out.  Good marketers will need to create good valuable content in their blog or website while developing a Brand.  Entrepreneur say’s: “Your brand strategy is how, what, where, when and to whom you plan on communicating and delivering on your brand messages.”

4. Loyal Customer

Again Entrepreneur explains how to develop Loyal Customers in 6 Easy Steps.  Loyal customers are your brand’s best ambassadors.

Keeping your current customers happy means they’re more likely to tell their family and friends about your product or service. It flips the traditional user acquisition funnel on its head — as Belle Beth Cooper explains in this post over at Buffer — by seeing your existing customers as the best way to reach new users.

5. Facebook News Feed algorithm

Recent changes to the Facebook News Feed algorithm have again changed the goal posts for brands. According to a blog post announcing the changes the company would be doing more to promote high quality content:

“Our surveys show that on average people prefer links to high quality articles about current events, their favorite sports team or shared interests, to the latest meme. Starting soon, we’ll be doing a better job of distinguishing between a high quality article on a website versus a meme photo hosted somewhere other than Facebook when people click on those stories on mobile.”

Many social media managers have noticed that the organic reach of their pages has decreased. This is forcing brands to look at paid options to reach their audience. Expect more integration between organic and paid content in 2014.

Attraction Marketing has been called the Single Most Important Concept Ever Developed for marketing your business.

If you’re a blogger and/or business owner I’m not telling anything you don’t know: life is busy.

As a full-time content creator, author, and entrepreneur, my journey creating online content has been quite the ride, which still sees me writing 4-5 blog posts a month.

Producing content is a challenge, but I love to write and see the benefit to my business that comes with publishing content people all over the world want to read.

For a long time, the challenge of producing all that content was made more onerous because I used to design everything for the articles myself, using clunky design programs and the same old stock photos.

It was slow, tedious, and never produced the quality of work I set out for.

Then I found The Anatomy Of A Perfect Blog.  In there was 10 surprisingly simple secrets that will virtually allow your blog to write itself.

To conclude, Mobile marketing is a growing trend today and the future.  Smartphones are getting smarter.  In order to grow your business you must develop a Mobile Marketing Strategy.

Your blog must have good content.  Not Okay content, but Good Content.  I found that instead of posting a lot of blog post to attract my prospects and customers, One Good Blog with content that address the needs of my prospects and customers performs much better.

Branding is so very important.  Without a Brand you might as will be shooting blanks.  Your brand will define who you are and what you stand for.
