In today’s Internet driven world, more and more people are opening blogs. Maintaining a blog is currently a popular activity. But for your blog to succeed, you must make decisions and plans. These decisions are critical in the success of your blog, especially if your blog is for a home business.  Take the time to identify want you want your blog to be.  For instance: are you blogging to get leads for your business, or to sell a product, or to inform and build trust with your readers?

Decide What Your Blog Is About

Knowing why you’re blogging will define the way you structure your articles and purpose.  Keep the advice of this article in mind to make sure your blogging intentions are most suitable to you from the onset and that you can achieve your long term blogging goals. WordPress Platform

An excellent tip for blogging is to make use of WordPress.  WordPress has two platforms, WordPress.org and WordPress.com.  You will have more control using WordPress.org.  This particular platform is extremely flexible with the various plug-ins that are used for flexibility and professionalism with your blog.  It is currently the most popular CMS being used today. If you are new to blogging and WordPress, you can find good information from WordPress itself.  You can also Google and use YouTube to get good information.  Remember, my advice is to use WordPress.org for your blog platform.

Using Your Knowledge

Writing a blog about subjects you have no interest in or know nothing about is death to your blog.  Having said that, I know of many successful bloggers who started out with little knowledge about the subject but became an expert over time.  They did this by researching and studying the subject of the blog.

Use Your Knowledge To Teach and Train

You pick the subject matter of your blog.  If you have knowledge about it, so much the better, but remember you can become a subject matter expert with study and time.

Here are some blogging tips to save you time:

People are starving for information.  Consider establishing a blog that offers information, coaching, training, “how to” or “tips”.  As you become noticed you will find readers returning to your blog for any of these subjects.  This will build trust and followers. Again, you don’t have to be an expert, you just have to have a “little more knowledge than your readers”.

Another tip:  Stay with your subject.  If you are offering information on “how to use Facebook to make money”, do not stray.  Your blog should be about Facebook and nothing else.  I don’t mean to add articles about other subject.  I know of a great blogger who offers advice on “How To Succeed In Network Marketing”, but includes articles that entertain and stories.  Changing up creates interest with the reader to come back.

Tip;  Write for your readers.  As mention, people are looking for information.  Know who your target readers are and structure your articles toward them.   If you wish to grow an audience of more than a couple of people, you need to write with your readers in mind.  How will my article benefit my reader.  What are my readers looking for.  Target your defend audience.

Final tip; When writing blog posts, it is critical to choose great titles. Try to add some keywords in your title, but keep it short and sweet.  Put keywords in the body and closing.  Use the Hi, H2, H3 sub-headlines and bold, underlines in your post.  With a little thought and creativity, you can come up with short, catchy, interesting titles that will draw readers in. Add a couple of meaningful key words and you will have readers in no time!

Blogging is a great way to promote a product or web site.  Blogging is a great way to make money and a great home based business.  But a great blog will take time and effort to get noticed.  Blogs are informal and easy to set up.   You can add as many posts as you want to describe your product and even ask your readers for valuable feedback.  So, if you are selling a product in a brick and mortar store or a network marketing business, affiliate marketing or your own personal product, you should set up blog to take advantage of the marketing opportunities that it creates.
