The 3 Questions To Writing An Article or Blog

The 3 Questions To Writing An Article or Blog

By Bill Fletcher

Before you begin writing an article or blog, there are 3 questions that you need to ask yourself.  If you are not asking yourself these 3 questions then now is the time you begin.

The first thing to address is….How Is Your Copy Writing Skills?  Looking for HELP?

Knowing the answers to these can really make things a lot easier while getting you more responses to your article.

What Are The 3 Question?

  • Who is my audience?
  • What is the purpose of the article?
  • What will my audience receive from the article?

Let’s address each one.  By reviewing your 3 questions and structuring your article or blog with the answers you will be ahead of the hundreds of bloggers who just put up content for the sake of content.  Write these questions down on a note pad and place the note pad next to the computer.  This way you have a readymade reference to review as you complete your blog.

Mail ListThere are tens of thousands of bloggers and content marketers in the world all trying to compete for the top  keywords and targeted audiences. If you ask yourself these 3 questions and then answer them before you begin writing your article or blog, you will be making it a lot easier for yourself when it comes to getting readers and obtaining results.

Don’t avoid the importance in doing your keyword research.  Knowing the keyword and structuring your blog around the issues or problems with well placed keywords will get you to your target audience as well as top ranking on Google.

The First Question Then Is:  Who Is My Audience?

This is the most important question and the first one you need to answer.  Knowing who the audience is will identify the second and third question and answer.

So again, the first question you should ask yourself before you begin writing an online article is Who Is My Audience?

I am sure that you have heard many marketers mentioning something called the Target Market. Top Internet Marketers have mentioned this because it really is important to know who you are targeting when it comes to business and marketing.  If you don’t who you are targeting how are you going to know what the purpose of your blog or article is about.”  It’s like: “If you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there.”  Same concept.   You will only be wasting your time!

Knowing who your audience is will help you creating your content and then getting your message across much more efficiently.

Example:  Your target market could be, Struggling MLM marketers with a Home Based Business.  Research why they are struggling, who are these marketers…age…men or women or both…what do they look like…what are they struggling with?  Knowing this will identify the WHO.  I actually have posted a “picture” of people next to my computer with bullets identifying the issues these people are dealing with.  The same would work for any target audience…Realtor..small business…window washers…affiliate marketers…etc.

The Second Questions Is:  What Is The Purpose Of The Article?

Since you know Who You Are Targeting now you need to understand The Purpose Of Your Article Or Blog.

“Why am I writing this article or blog is the question you’re now answering? “

Since you know your target market or target readers from the first step, this will set you up with the right foundation to build your article or blog upon.

Are you writing to help others marketers out by giving them tips, suggestions, advice or direction?  Are you solving a problem?  Are you offering help to overcome a common issue your target audience is dealing with?  Are you writing because you want to promote something? Are you writing because you want to inform your audience about something?  No matter what it is, just be sure you know why you are writing what you are.

In the example above, we were dealing with struggling MLM business owners.  What is one of the common issues with MLM marketers?  The answer…qualified leads.  Many Network Marketers run out of leads and therefore struggle in building a Home Based Business.  By researching this and knowing the problem, your article should offer advice on “How To Get Leads.”  “Ways To Get Free Leads.” Etc.

Your article purpose is then to solve this issue and help these struggling MLM owners.

The Third and Final Question: What Will My Audience Receive From The Article?

The final question as well as the final answer you should be asking yourself when writing an article is what will my readers get from reading this?

The content that you create and share with them, will it benefit them in any way? Will it help them in solving a problem or overcoming an obstacle? Or is the content you have shared something that was created with only you in mind.  Was the article or blog indented to pitch something?  Was your intention to sell a product or constantly promoting something.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with promoting a product or your business opportunity.  You need to do that in order to stay in business.  But your article is not where you want to do this unless your product or service answers the question or issue they may be dealing with.

The best place for promoting is In the PS line at the end of your blog or article.

Example:  Let’s again address the issues mentioned above.  The target market is struggling with getting leads. You have a solution to the problem.  Your article should offer advice and help, but you may have a product that can directly solve the problem.  In your advice you might direct them to your product as a suggestion on where to get help.  NO PITCHING…just a suggestion as “Here is where I go to get my answers.”  Then a link to the product.

Finally

No matter what your content was created for, it will create a reaction and what is the reaction you want them to receive?  Is the reaction positive or negative?  A positive outcome is great but don’t be afraid of the negative.  Negative response can be constructive.  Learn from it and create a response.   Always keep this in mind when creating and sharing your thoughts.

The 3 Questions To Writing An Article or Blog has now been identified.  Is this the end of the story?  By no means NO!

There is a lot to more to creating content than just thinking about what to write and then sharing it.  It is a very simple process but one that involves some thought.  So next time, before you begin writing an article or blog, remember the 3 Questions.  Keep the note pad by the computer so you can reference it as you begin your blog.  This will set you apart from all the others as well as the difference between someone reading your content, and someone deciding to pass on it and read somebody else’s…
