Choose appropriate keywords to use in your titles and posts to help boost the number of followers your blog has.
Using the proper keywords is a must for driving traffic to your blog site. Google has a keyword search tool that is excellent in finding the right keyword for you post. Long tail keywords are much better than short keywords. Don’t know the difference, Google Long Tail keyword for some help.
With out the proper keywords in your blog post, you will have some difficulties in “ranking”. However, a word of advice…do not over use. Google does not like that.
Blog Frequently
One way that many new bloggers fail is that they start a new blog and only update it once every two weeks or less. Readers’ interest may be piqued at first, but they will become annoyed if they have to wait for new posts all the time. Generally speaking, aim for at least one to two new blog every week. One way to improve your readers is to send your readers an email to let them know about your new content.
Keep your contend up-to-date and entertaining. Or if you blog is to educate, offer help and advice with tips and “How To” articles.
The reputation that you make for yourself online carries over into every aspect of your life, including any day job and offline friendships. Plagiarism on your blog will have serious consequences in all aspects of your life. It is not necessary to make all of your writing sound professional and authoritative; just make sure that it sounds real and you have passion for the subject. This is the surest way to create a successful blog.
If you find an article that meets your intention, go ahead and use it. Just give credit to the author or contact the author and ask if it would be okay to use on your blog. The best way to do this is at the end of your article, give credit: “Thanks to …… for contributing to this blog post”. I often give credit at the beginning of the article. Doing so, I can give a short introduction and “thanks”.
Guest Blogger
Ask some popular bloggers to guest post on your blog. This will enhance your site’s profile and improve its content. You could also get more traffic if the other blogger alerts their readers of their appearance on your blog. You can do this with several people to help you create a more content rich blog.
Use pictures or videos in your content. The power of a well-chosen image to add interest and clarity to your subject matter can greatly improve the effectiveness of your writing. That is definitely true with a blog. Often, you will find that images can convey much more than words can alone. Because of this, use images wherever appropriate in your blog.
Allow occasional guest posts on your blog. By doing this, you’ll be able to create a relationship with your guests. This could be useful at anytime. Don’t ever underestimate the power of networking. You may need a favor down the line, and the blogger whose guest post you hosted may be willing and able to help you.
Allow your readers to post comments, and respond to them. By doing this, your readers will feel that they are actively involved in the site, and it will allow you to have a relationship with them. If your readers see that you regularly reply to reader comments, they will come back to your blog to see if you have answered their comment.
Mailing List
Create a blog mailing list as soon as possible. Keeping this goal in mind early will ensure that you are growing your list from the start and on a regular basis. This list can be utilized to make more money in the future. If you put off creating a mailing list, you might lose a lot of money, along with your wasted time.
