Traditional Network Marketing or MLM has changed with the emergence of the Internet. How has Network Marketing changed?
Old School Marketing
When someone joins an MLM Company through a sponsor the normal idea is find as many people to join your home based business. The sponsor and/or the company will tell you to go to your family and friends and show, recuite your family and friends.
The problem with this approach is; you have now shown the business opportunity to everyone and no one has joined. What do you do next. It is where most Network Marketers fail and most quit because they are not taught what to do next. The sad fact is that 97% of most Network Marketers fail in their business.
One other problem is that most MLM Companies have what is called “Auto Ship”. Auto ship is that you must purchase X amount of product per month to say active. Problem here is that you soon end up with a garage or basement full of product.
Now Comes The Real Problem.
The Internet has changed Network Marketing and the Home Based Business forever. How is that? Let’s take an MLM Company product. This is not aimed at any company but just where the problem now exist.
Your MLM Company has a Weight Loss drink or a series of Vitamins to offer to your customers. Or they may have a Soap product. Your first problem is to connivence them to change the way they purchase these products. Most customers purchase these products at the store that they go to daily, weekly or monthly. Your job is to get them to STOP the purchase and buy your product. That’s not easy to do. And normally your product is more expensive than the product they purchase at the store.
Now Comes The Internet
Go to the Internet and Google “Weight Loss Products” or “Vitamins” or even “Cleaning Products” and you will be faced with hundreds of sites offering these products. Most will be even cheaper than yours.
The Internet is now in competition with your Home Based Business and your business opportunity. It’s cheaper, it does not have “someone” trying to sell them and most will be shipped to the house. The Internet is in Competition with you.

PS: I have been in Network Marketing for over 8 years and it didn’t meet my expectations. I was disappointed and frustrated with the business.
