Many of my readers think I am against Email because our Mobile Marketing company emphasizes “SMS Text Marketing” as a key. First email is still a great avenue to stay in touch with people and new people.  The biggest problem with email is the “Open Rate”.

information overloadPeople today get so many emails from people they know and don’t know that they can become immune.  Look at your own emails.  How many do you get with “business opportunity”, “making money”, “How I make $$$$ money every day and I will show you how”?

So am I against emails…. Not really.

What I really emphasize is strategic combination of three things.  SMS Text Marketing, Direct Mail and Email.

#1. SMS Text Marketing — this is, by far, the most direct path to your customer on their most cherished device. You simply HAVE to be here or you are falling further and further behind by the day.

#2. Direct Mail — it is very powerful to communicate “offline” from time to time. It’s an intimate connection. Remember how great good old fashioned letters made you feel? (and probably still do). Getting your message off line gets you undivided attention.

#3. Email — An obvious, awesome means of fast “mass communication” and a way to quickly get great content direct to someone’s inbox.

BUT… And a BIG but…

#3 has some major, major issues right now. And it is THE one used the most, almost exclusively by those who struggle the most in trying to grow their home based business or network marketing business. (You might want to read that again).

Did you know that ONE in every seven “opt in” emails directed to “opt in” recipients (yesMail Delivery, those who “signed in” to your web site on their own) never makes it to their inbox. Never gets there. That’s 15% NOT even arriving. And at least 30% of the 85% delivered are deleted or unread (Not my opinion. Source: Return Path)

The Email trend is very negative. And will NOT be improving. One in every seven is now closer to one in every five. This is not even close to being the case with SMS Text Marketing and Direct Mail.
