It is often tricky to build a quality blog. Since anyone with computer access can start a blog, you need to be able to separate your blog from the rest of the pack with unique content and keywords. You can make a unique and more successful blog if you read the following article.

Have your readers feel as if you are ever present for them. Communicating frequently, and make it a habit of blogging at lease daily. Connecting to your readers means that you will find good content, worthy of reading. If you feel like your blog is not connecting with your readers, write a blog and ask what they would like to hear from you.  Remember a blog provide interesting subjects, humor, coaching, training, entertainment and value.  Never think you can’t provide interesting articles.  Anything worth talking about cam be shared with your readers.

Search Engine

It is important that your blog uses search engine optimization. Because you want people to start reading your blog, you have to be certain that the blog is listed highly in search engine results for specific topics.  Good practice is to use Keywords within the title, the body and at the end or maybe a summery.  Do not over use keywords as Google does not like it.

Make frequent updates to your blog

If you want to grow your readership, it is necessary to inject fresh content regularly. If you do not offer new content, readers will have no motivation to keep visiting.  A regular, daily blog post is a good goal to give yourself. Again, I can’t stress enough to provide good content.  While a poorly written blog can be published and read, the life of the blog will be limited and soon you will find no one coming to your blog.

Competition in blogging is fierce, and if you do not provide your readers with consistent and fresh content, some other blogger will. People won’t hold it against you at certain times, such as around the holidays, but there’s no getting around the fact that you need to post frequently and consistently.

When getting started with your blog, best advice is to purchase a domain name.  I use Go Daddy.   Buying your own domain is surprisingly inexpensive and makes your blog seem more professional. Using your business’s name or something related to it will make it easier for viewers to remember it.

Brand Yourself

If it is important to your business, try branding your name.  People will remember your name and come for information.  Another point, you may change your business and all the articles under a company name will be lost, but by using your name it makes no different in the business your in or any future business.  Classic example is the name Donald Trump.  He can be in any business, retail, clothing, automotive, network marketing or real estate but the name Donald Trump is what will drive people to his site.

Keep your blog posts brief and on-topic to help hold the readers interest.  A good rule of thumb is 500 to 1,00 words.  It is useful to have informative and detailed posts on your blog, but unnecessarily long ones will bore your readers. Most blog readers aren’t looking for Pulitzer-winning prose or poetic descriptions of every detail of a topic. People want content, not fluff.

You can hold your readers attention with the use of picture, video and audio.  We are a visual society and the use of these elements will help you in return visits.

Allow occasional guest posts on your blog. This can help you foster a good relationship with another blogger, and that could be helpful. Never underestimate what the power of having good relationships can do. If you ever need a favor in the future, that relationship could be the means of obtaining it!

Encourage readers to post comments to your blog. This will keep your readers feeling that they have an active role in your blog.

You want feedback.  But take the feedback you receive in your post comments into account without getting angry.  A negative comment is not necessarily bad.  I have seen negative comments on blogs and in defense, other readers made positive comments defending the writer. Whatever the subject is, there will always be people who criticize.  Those that are negative or destructive, respond politely and move on. By doing this, you will show your readers that you know how to take the high road and build their respect, as well as your readership.
