Be your own boss and work in your PJ.

Be your own boss and work in your PJ.

Many people dream of Being Their Own Boss but few ever take the plunge.  To be your own boss requires a lot of disciplines:  Choosing the right business, A Business Plan, Focus, Commitment, Hard work, Passion and in some cases..Support.  If your ready to take the plunge and learn How To Be Your Own Boss, I have outlined various opportunities.  But the most important to being your own boss is to Never Ever Quit.

Who wouldn’t want to be working in their pajamas, setting their own hours, work when you want and play when you want, unlimited income, tax advantages and being their own boss? It sounds like the perfect world.

The reality, however, is very different. Before you walk into your current boss’s office and hand in your resignation, ask yourself if you have what it takes to start your own business and be your own boss.

How To Become Your Own Boss will require you to “think.”  Think about the advantages.  Think about You.  Think about the time and other factors outlined in this article.

How To Be Your One Boss Requires Discipline

Making the transition from a regular job with a steady paycheck to being your own boss takes more than the requisite leap of faith.

Do you have the discipline to handle the demands of running a business startup on your own? In the beginning, you’ll be putting in a lot of 12- to 14-hour workdays to get your business off the ground.  What you will soon see after the 12- 14 hour days, is that the business will require less hours and more free time.

It takes hard work, dedication, and commitment to start a business and make it successful. If you’re not sure you don’t have the discipline find a mentor.  In my situation, I knew I wanted a home business.  My mentor was in Network Marketing.  He suggested I start by learning the basics of working from home.  Avoid distractions, focus, and work.  With a small investment, and a mentor I began my Network Marketing business from home.  To my surprise, I found that I liked the freedom of being my own boss.

Network Marketing will require you to find your discipline and your focus.  This will take time but can be mastered.

 Support

You’ll want to be sure you have a strong support system in place. During the first few months, especially, you’re going to be making a lot of important decisions and stupid mistakes.  This is normal so plan on it.  Mistakes are a way to learn!!

If you don’t have a support network in place, look for a business mentor to help you so you won’t have to go it alone. Identify a business mentor who has been down the same road you’re on and who can offer you advice and guidance when the going gets rough.

Again, in case, my mentor was a Network Marketing Professional with many years of experience.  His valuable support helped in establishing my business and reduced the mistakes.

To Be Your Own Boss Requires A Good Business Plan

The popular saying, “Failing to plan is planning to fail,” is often attributed to Benjamin Franklin, who knew a thing or two about entrepreneurship.

While some might argue against drafting a formal business plan, having one in place serves as a guide for your home business and helps you articulate your vision and where you see your business going in the next year, five years or more.

A good business plan lays out your objectives, strategies, and long-term goals, as well as ways to achieve them, and helps hold you accountable.

While creating a business plan sounds dull and trivial, it is a necessary tool for your success.  You business plan does not have to be a “book” or hundreds of pages, your plan can be just a few pages.  The business plan you devise, can be expanded, changed and revised over time as you become more experienced.

Again, in my case my first business plan was just 3 pages.  In there I outlined my Marketing Plan, My Goals, My Tools (software, manuals, social media) and my Daily Schedule.  Since then my business plan has changed to be over 20 pages with more details and “what if.”

Choosing a Type of Business

There are several types of businesses that let you become your own boss.  These include:

Agent/Representative

An agent works as an independent contractor for an established brand, usually on a sales commission basis. You’ll be your own boss while at the same time receiving support from the parent company.

This is the perfect business opportunity for someone who loves sales and is great with customers but doesn’t want to go it alone. It doesn’t cost much to set yourself up as an agent and you’ll have unlimited earnings potential as your business grows.

Consulting/Contract

One of the easiest ways to become your own boss is to become a consultant. A consultant typically has in-depth knowledge in a specific field and works with clients one-on-one to identify and offer solutions to problems within an organization or for an individual.

The cost of entry is relatively low and often you can run your independent consultant business out of your home. Before you hang out your shingle, be sure to be actively networking and building a client base.

Franchise

Owning a franchise can be an excellent investment opportunity. Franchising lets you buy into a ready-made brand while opening your own location. While you manage and make your own business decisions, there is also a support team behind you.

The initial investment varies based on the type of franchise you buy into, so selecting the right opportunity is important. Consider meeting with a franchise consultant to discuss which franchise may meet your business goals, needs, and passion.

Network Marketing

One of the easiest businesses to start is Network Marketing or MLM. The main advantage of Network Marketing is the low cost to start a home based business. For just a few hundred dollars, you can be in business. Another advantage is the ability to work part-time while you keep your job. As your income grows you can be less dependent on your job even to the point of quitting.

Work at home business, has other advantages as oppose to Franchise, Brick and Mortar business in that it has less overhead, no employees, low start-up cost and better tax advantages.

The reason for the high failure rate in Network Marketing is the lack of commitment, focus and coaching. When a Network Marketer focuses on the business, commits to build a strong business and has the coaching to help over the rough spots, most go on to build a strong business with a great income.

Remember the high failure rate is due to lack of commitment, focus, mentorship and coaching.  At the end of this article, will be Banner to click on.  If you choose Network Marketing or MLM business, you will need the support system of top professionals.  Click on the Banner and you will be taken to a 10-Day Bootcamp.  After the 10-days you can then decided if Network Marketing is the right choice for you.

Small Business

Starting a home based business or any business lets you be your own boss, make a living doing something you love, and gives you the flexibility to set your own schedule without fear of being laid off or fired.

Note:

While a franchise sounds like a great business opportunity, there are some pit falls:  The cost to own a franchise is normally high.  While the failure rate is low, franchises do fail.  Franchise requires a lot of time.  Depending on the franchise you choose, you may be working 10-12-15 plus hours a day 7 days a week to get the business profitable.

Agents and Consultants:  These are great business opportunity.  Low start-up cost, work from home opportunity and your own schedule.  Consider your position.  As a consultant, be sure you are well connected and knowledgeable in the chosen industry.  As an agent for a company, remember that you do have someone over you.  Maybe not a boss, but someone who will want you to dedicate time and energy toward representing their product.  Should that product become stale or loose popularity, your business can suffer.

Successful entrepreneurs have an idea for a business in mind long before embarking on a new venture and aren’t afraid to take risks. If you believe in your business, chances are good that others will, too.

Managing Your Income

Before you give up the security of a regular paycheck, make sure you know how much money you need to live on. Get out your calculator and financial records and figure out how much you’ll need to make, not only to write your own paycheck but also to keep your business financially afloat until you’ve established a steady, recurring client base.

Consider working part-time as you transition into your own business to ease the financial burden. Running the numbers will also help you determine whether your new enterprise is financially viable or if you need to make adjustments to your business plan.

Being your own boss takes not only drive but also the passion to succeed. There are a myriad of details that need to come together once you decide to start your own business and work for yourself on your own terms. It’s worth it in the end, however, when it’s your name on the door. You may discover that you’re the best boss you’ve ever had.

To Be Your Own Boss is a great opportunity to become independent from a job.  However, to Be Your own Boss is not cut-out-for-everyone.  To Be Your Own Boss required many traits that are lacking for some people.  Having a business such as a Home Based Business can be lonely.  You are alone in your decisions, time commitment, focus.  If you are coming from a work environment, you don’t have a boss telling you what to do, set hours of working and company goals and policies.  These are all yours

However, Being Your Own Boss has so many great rewards such as:  no boss, time freedom, unlimited income, tax advantages, challenges and learning new skills.

So How To Become Your Own Boss?  Make the commitment to do what others will not, focus on your business, learn new skills, establish you as the Boss and do what “you as boss” whats you to do.
