Fear Of Failure
We can choose to see failure as “the end of the world,” or as proof of just how inadequate we are. Or, we can look at failure as the incredible learning experience that it often is. Every time we fail at something, we
can choose to look for the lesson we were meant to learn. These lessons are very important; they’re how we grow, and how we keep from making that same mistake again. Failures stop us only if we let them.
If you are afraid of failure, you might be uncomfortable setting goals. But goals help us define where we want to go in life. Without goals, we have no sure destination.
Many experts recommend visualization as a powerful tool for goal setting. Imagining how life will be after you’ve reached your goal is a great motivator to keep you moving forward.
Many of us are sometimes afraid of failing, but we must not let that fear stop us from moving forward.
Everyone fails. For many, fear of failure is paralyzing and holds them back from trying something new, taking a risk, or taking a step towards their goals.
Conquering this fear of failure, not letting it stand in your way, and learning how to turn failure into success have become the strategy of sorts that almost all of us have heard at some point in our lives.
Fear Of Success
Fear of failure and Fear of success may look the same but they are some real differences.
Many of us have been conditioned to believe that the road to success involves risks such as “getting one’s hopes up” – which threatens to lead to disappointment. Many of us, have been told we were losers our
whole lives, in one way or another. We have internalized that feedback and feel that we don’t deserve success. For those of us who often associated success with uncomfortable things such as competition and its evil twin, envy or believe it…money tend to avoid moving toward success such as procrastinate.
In order to have a healthy relationship with success, and it’s flip side, of failure, or disappointment, the first step is to learn to differentiate between feelings of “excitement” and a “feeling of rejection.”
Out of all the fears people have to face when starting a business, I would argue that the fear of success is one of the sneakiest. How often have you seen others say they want to do something, but then never follow through? If you’ve been in the game of life long enough, and if you explore personal development, you’ve probably seen this happen quite a lot.
While the fear of success may be easy to spot in other people, it’s not as easy to spot it in ourselves. I don’t know about you, but there have definitely been moments when I said I wanted success but never saw the results I wanted. When I figured out that I actually had a fear of success, I realized I was sabotaging myself.
