I will start this article with a short story about myself and my failures.
I’ve been in this industry for close to 10 years and I’ve tried to build this business in many different ways…
- home/hotel meetings,
- cold market prospecting,
- prospecting salesman that come to my door,
- prospecting waitress, store clerks, college students, grocery clerks, public swimming pools, movie theaters..etc
- calling up friends & family, high school and college mates,
- driving 2-3 hrs to get 20 names a day from stalking people at the mall, etc.
- driving to another town to recruit people only to be told no….then driving back,
- windshield notes,
- placing business cards in books,
- walking around with a silly button on my shirt,
- stickers on my car,
- “get rich’ notes in apartment and store billboards,
- I even handed out cards in front of shopping malls, (I was asked to leave)
- joined clubs for the sole purpose to recruit,
- attended trade shows, craft shows, state fairs, farmers market to hand out brochures,
None of this worked for me!
And when I did recruit someone, they soon faded away and dropped out. I was constantly rebuilding my business over and over again.
I can tell you that, I’m a analytical person, which means I constantly analyze what was working or not working. As I tried different methods, I learned a lot from everything I tried. Even when things didn’t work out, I would sit down and study what went wrong.
After a few years of being in this industry, I was really burned out and frustrated. My up-line painted a picture of me siting on the beach, driving exotic cars, living in a mansion and the money kept coming in.
I barely made my sign-up fee.
However, I made up my mind that I wanted to build this business. One to be proud of and with a good income.
But the business had to reflect my way of doing business in a professional way and not a “fly-by-night” scam artist. And not trying to recruit anyone and everyone within 3 feet of me.
My business had to be professional, stylish, up-to-date with today’s environment ie: Internet, mobile devices, computers, iPads.
It made absolutely no sense to me to be operating like a door to door salesman. Or high pressure “get it now” approach.
My up-line told me to talk to anyone within 3 feet of me and to play the numbers game. The more you talk to the more you will recruit.….WRONG!!
I needed to take advantage of my strengths and use technology as a major leverage point in establishing and growing my business.
I Took A Year Off
I took a year off and studied this Network Marketing business and some of the top earners. I read many books, attended webinars and came to the realization, I was not a professional.
I knew nothing about people skills, how to talk to people, what not to do but most of all the power of Attraction Marketing.
After a year I designed my new business and agreed not to do the things that didn’t work. I heard of but knew nothing about this concept of Attraction Marketing that top earners were talking about.
I learned these skills of Attraction Marketing from a MIT graduate that built his first six figure income in network marketing using ‘Attraction Marketing.’ His named is Ferny Ceballos.
I decided, “If Ferny could do it, I could do it!” We became good friends and what he showed me was a way of building that actually turned my business into a HOME business (i.e. build while at home) by using the power of the internet.
He taught me things like rejecting people who were not right for me, how to create an Avatar, how not to come off as a pressure salesperson and much more.
I was surprised that within a few months, I started to:
a) made money,
b) I was closer to a residual income,
c) helping others the secret to Network Marketing (duplication),
d) less No’s,
e) people who joined did not drop-out
f) the fun was back
And here are the results of the last 2 years of using Attraction Marketing…
a) I’m making a good full-time income,
b) I have establish a residual income,
c) I enrolled only people who meet my requirements and reject anyone who is a “time waster”,
d) I work with a team of professionals who are exploding- by helping others do the same with duplication,
What About You?
While this is a great story about me, the subject of the article is about YOU. So, here’s essentially what you need to do to make Attraction Marketing work for you. Just as it has worked for countless 6-figure and 7-figure earners that have learned from this powerful concept:
STEP 1: FIND THE BEST TARGET MARKET
The best target market for me and you is to go after, people who have already said YES to a home business. In fact, on a daily basis a lot of networkers, across the country voluntarily send me their contact information, showing interest in what we have to offer and the mentorship coaching. This is possible because instead of pitching my opportunity to them, I focus my efforts on solving THEIR problems and addressing THEIR needs.
STEP 2: DEMONSTRATE VALUE
I never chase people or try to convince people to join my business. Instead, I attract by demonstrating value and leadership through effective marketing. In fact, in the past 2 years, I’ve had a lot of Network Marketing people get a hold of me, wanting to find out what company I’m with and how they can also build a successful business for the first time….Crazy?
Most of the people I spoke to didn’t really know me. They just knew they wanted what I had to offer and were just hoping I would help them build their business. The trick here is to position what you offer as valuable, in a way that no one else does. And I can tell you for certain it’s a lot easier to ask for an enrollment fee, when they are asking you if they can work with you.
STEP 3: CREATE WEBSITES & MESSAGES THAT SELL FOR YOU
I will absolutely not sit on the phone all day, cold calling people and pitch them on my opportunity. Nor will I drive for hours to go prospect. I have done that… and it is a waste of my time. In fact, I have setup simple websites and automated messenger systems that actually do the selling for me.
The only way I’m going to get on the phone with someone who wants to buy something from me or work with me, is if they are sure they want to get started and maybe have a few clarifying questions. Even then, I still insist on interviewing EVERYONE I would be personally be working with.
Remember this is YOUR business, this is YOUR team and YOUR the CEO. You only want qualified people who will WORK!
If your in Network Marketing, I don’t have to tell you that there are a lot of crazies out there. People who will waste your time, lazy, want you to build it for them and my favorite….”I don’t have any money.”
Why would I want anyone who doesn’t have any money to invest in a business?
STEP 4: BUILD “YOU, Inc.”
I don’t focus simply on just building a Network Marketing or direct sales opportunity, which may or may not be around in 5 years. My focus for the past year has been on building my BRAND or YOU INC, which consist of a community, email list and reputation I can take with me wherever I go.
True Story: I have a close friend who has a list of 10,000 people. When he moves from one company to another the majority will follow him. Within months he is a top earner in that new company.
A little known fact is that I’ve actually been in 3 different business opportunities in the last 10 years, which have come and gone. But I built my business by offering help and advice and a BRAND. Like my friend, what ever business or company I decide to join, I will start to earn money within months. We can show YOU how!
That’s only possible because of the brand and reputation I cultivated over the past few years.
Your network marketing business is just the vehicle, but not your TRUE business. YOU are the business. People join because of YOU. They will follow because of YOU. YOU, Inc is the reason why so many top earners are making money. There is no reason why YOU, Inc can not be YOU!
Your email list can become an online distribution channel, which brings stability and growth. It also allows YOU to build another business or opportunity with the click of a mouse, should something ever happen to YOUR opportunity.

STEP 5: PEOPLE WHO SAY “NO” ARE AWESOME!
One of the keys to bringing stability to my income was when I accepted the fact that 90% of the people I find will say “NO” to my products or opportunity. So for every 100 people you present your opportunity only 10 will join you. Of those 10…6 will drop out within 3-6-months….2 will continue….any only 1-2 will build a business.
You Need To Present Your Opportunity To A Lot Of People!
I found a way to make these people customers in other ways, by providing solutions to their biggest problems and needs, which means YOU make money, even when they say “NO” to YOUR business opportunity. Which is the coolest thing ever!
The very best part of learning how to build YOUR business this way, is instead of having that dreaded feeling.. “ugh, I have to go prospect or make cold calls”, YOUR business becomes fun again.
YOU will have a boat full of people to talk to daily, and that “needing them” to make money “anxiety” goes away. YOUR posture grows and YOUR business grows even faster because people will follow those who know where they are going. These people reach out to YOU, and it is so refreshing!
I love NO’s and YOU, Inc will too.
STEP 6: BUILD AN EMPIRE
Master networkers know that their goal is not to build just a downline. The secret is to create DUPLICATION. The secret is to build a business than can serve the needs of an entire industry.
When what you’re creating can influence the direction of others, not only can YOU build a downline, not only can YOU build a financial legacy… YOU can be a FORCE other leaders want to attach themselves to. Impossible? NO!…YOU, Inc can do it, and the best part, we will show YOU how.
YOU, Inc can have an empire of 10,000 people, just like my friend, and YOU only personally know a hand-full of them. How awesome is that!
Now, I’m not saying that what I’ve just outlined is “THE BEST” way to build. All I can share with you is what Attraction Marketing has done for me… Not only did I retire from my practice… Not only did I build my business from home…Not only do I wake up, and have commission notices everyday…Not only do I work my business on my own terms and time…I haven’t prospected a single stranger or shared my opportunity with a family member in the last 2 years.
By focusing on solving problems for people and adding value, YOU can attract literally 10-20-50 networkers per week or day to YOUR database. If you use the numbers we show you, many of these prospects will join you, and of course some will not. Some will even go HIGHER resulting in greater income to YOU.
