Do you have a business opportunity and only a few people have joined. No problem. Remember most people will not join your business opportunity than will. But the worst thing you can do is to “give-up” on them. Just because they didn’t join today, does not mean they will not join later.
So what do to those “People who say no to your business opportunity”
First of all Don’t Push them, stay in contact with them!
One of the top network marketers who earns over 7 figures told me about some of his best distributors. Several of them turned him down years ago only to join later. What did this network marketer do different than most? He stayed in contact with the “NO’s”
Looking for a way to engage these people? Remember they may not be interested today but tomorrow things may be different.
Use your Autoresponder
Set up a Newsletter and label it, “Follow-ups and No’s” or something like that. Use your newsletter like your personal “what’s happening”. Share your activities, accomplishments, stories (more on stories in another post), holiday activities, things you’re excited about. Sprinkle in a few gentle sales messages. Maybe new products, a few success stories, but keep it simple and not “pitchy”.
The idea here is not to sell them, but to stay in contact.
If you are not certain how to set this up, work with your Autoresponder provider. They will more than willing to help.
Bits & Pieces
I call my newsletter, “Bits & Pieces”. A Bit of information and Pieces of what is happening. I sent this newsletter out 4 times a year with a ‘rap-up” in my Christmas holiday newsletter.
This is a gentle way to engage the folks that have either told you that they are not currently open to your business opportunity or that you have chosen to be passive with. Either way, they’re not forgotten. It doesn’t take that much time and who knows!!
Let’s use a scenario to further explain this important marketing idea.
Let’s say you own a retail store that sells tools. Your friend Bob couldn’t tell the difference between a hammer and a screwdriver. Would you avoid offing Bob coffee? Of course not. Just because he didn’t accept your offer to purchase a hammer does not mean he won’t buy coffee. But only if you stay in contact with him to let him know you now have coffee.
Your Business Opportunity
What does that have to do with your business opportunity? It’s the same thought process in promoting your network marketing business. Staying in contact with Bob through your newsletter lets him know how you’re doing but also that you may have something Bob may be interested in later.
Also Bob’s situation may change. He may be looking at purchasing a new car and would like a little extra money for the purchase. Of course we all know the employment situation can change at the drop of a hat. Wouldn’t it be great if Bob thought of you in that situation?
Another situation may be that Bob didn’t like your business opportunity but may like another network marketing company. Don’t “write-him-off”. That one may not work out or you find that Bob is struggling in his new business and needs help. Here you are to offer the much needed help and advice. You also have an affiliate program and you introduce Bob to the affiliate program that give him the necessary advice and coaching to get him to the success he desires. Bob wins and you win by offering him the affiliate program.
This affiliate program has helped hundreds in their network marketing business.
Keep The Relationship Open
Also by keeping that relationship with the people you’ve been in contact with, they could recommend you to their friends simply by you staying in contact.
Real life story: Mark had turned down a business opportunity presented by Jim and Judy. However, he recommended a college roommate, Jerry to Jim who he thought would be interested. Jim contacted Jerry and made a presentation on the business. Jerry became excited and joined. About 19 months later Jerry quit his job because he was making more money than the job. Needless to say, Jerry, Jim and Judy are close friend and all enjoy a great financial future. What happen to Mark? He never joined and today works at his job.
When you invite your friends and family members to be part of this Newsletter group (actually invite them, don’t just add them) be sure to let them know that it won’t be spammy and you’ll be sharing some information, stories and what is happening to you. They will be more likely to open the Newsletter if they know what to expect and if you hold true to your word. You should never send your hard-core sales letters to this list.
Actually you should never send a Hard-Core sales letter to anyone. Always give information and results. Let them know how this opportunity may help them or offer a solution. By being there you won’t turn them away or insult them. Just be a friend.
Autoresponder
BTW — If you don’t currently have an auto-responder system in place, all of them are good. I use GetResponse and have had no issues. AWeber is good, iContact and GVO are good as well as a few others.
Before I leave let’s be sure you know what an Autoresponder is:
An Autoresponder is a computer program that automatically answers e-mail sent to it. They can be very simple or quite complex.
Autoresponders are often used as e-mail marketing tools, to immediately provide information to their prospective customers and then follow-up with pre-written message at preset time intervals. Autoresponders can save you time and effort by staying in contact with present and future customers.
Summery
Just because someone said NO to your business opportunity does not mean you should give-up on them. And by no means, don’t take it personal. They said NO because it wasn’t the right business, or couldn’t see themselves doing the business or bad timing or a hundred of other excuses. Just stay in contact with a newsletter and who knows what they may do.
Use an Autoresponder and mail a newsletter at lease 4 times a year. Keep it simple, informative and general. By all means do not try to SELL your contact but instead add simple message on the business. No pitchy or spammy messages.
If they like the ideal of network marketing but didn’t join you but instead joined another opportunity, congratulate them on their decision. First it will surprise them but it also allows you to say in contact. If the business does not work out they may come to you.
You may also find out that they are struggling and need help. Offer to help. There is a incredible affiliate program that is designed to help and coach struggling network marketers.
