Believe it or not…This Really Happened.
I was attending a conference at a local Hilton with about 20 other excited people who came to see a couple of top marketing presenters.
I don’t know if this has ever happened to you.
So here goes my really bad day:
As I walked into the conference room, I found a chair that was close to the “stage.” As I sat down the chair leg was damaged and I found myself wobbling around.
Not to my liking….
I moved back a row. As I was getting myself prepared to take notes the biggest man I have ever seen sat in the wobbling chair. If that wasn’t bad enough, he was blocking my view.
So I moved back another row. Again, I was getting myself prepared, when this lady was squeezing by the person in front of me. Wouldn’t you know, she hit the water glass I had set in front of me. The table was now ringing wet.
Another row!
Taking careful consideration of everyone around me, I once again pulled out my note pad to take notes.
NO NOTE PAD!!!
Problem solved…I pulled out my laptop. Oh no…battery was less than 8%.
I just closed my eyes and shook my head….You’ve got to be kidding me.
The person next to me saw my dilemma, and gave me a note pad. Smiling and a thanks, I reached for my pen…Not again, I left the pen in my hotel room.
Once again, my neighbor took pity on me and I now had a pencil.
Settling down to listen to this presenter, the morning coffee hit.
Where’s the men’s room?
Up and out I found the men’s room and hurried back to the conference.
Great…it hasn’t started.
I leaned back, crossed my arms, relaxed. Then I saw…Oh, in my hurry I forgot…you guest it, I forgot to zip-up!!! How am I going to do this without my neighbors seeing me?
Well if I slide under the table a little closer, that should solve the problem.
This was turning out to be a really BAD DAY. What else could go wrong?
It did get worst…but not for me.
Actually, as it turned out the presenter walked down the isle to the stage. As he turned to sit down on the stage high stool, when he dropped all of his papers.
ALL OF HIS PAPERS.
Yes, all of his notes, all of his papers were now all over the floor and on the table of the front row.
Of course everyone started to laugh. Not at him but the situation. That was everyone except the Big Gentleman in the front row with the wobbling chair.
In his hast to help, he jumped up knocking the front table over…water glass and all. Yep right on the notes and papers. He also managed to break the chair.
AH..AH..AH..I can just imagine his embarrassment.
So my bad day wasn’t all that bad. I did have to wait until we took a lunch break and everyone had left to get up from the table and zip-up.
What about the presentation, you ask? With soggy papers he managed to do a great job. How about the Big Guy? We cheered him for picking up the table, placing the tablecloth back on and getting a new chair.
As for me, my day turned out to be a great, entertaining and an unforgettable day!
