First.. are you guilty of Marketing your business with a Shotgun approach?

Let’s look at your current marketing plan: You’re a Network Marketer and you use the “3 foot rule.” (anyone within 3 feet is a prospect.) Is this your approach in sponsoring people in your business? If so you need to read this article very carefully.
If you don’t have a strategic marketing plan that is current you are guilty of what I call “shotgun marketing.” Shotgun marketing means that you shoot from the hip, spending money on advertising and other promotional campaigns without a particular end-target in mind and not driven by a focused, coordinated strategy. Everyone is a prospect. You sponsor anyone you can and hope they “stick.”

Here is an example of Shotgun Marketing

Let’s pretend you are planning a birthday party for your son. Your Aunt Bee lives in Chicago and is always fun, so you want to send her an invitation. You have two options;

1.  You have her address and you know she is interested in coming to the party. You send her a self-addressed stamped envelope with an invitation.

OR

2.  Print out 10,000 copies of the same invitation, hire a pilot to fly over Chicago and drop invitations all over the city in hopes that Auntie Bee will get at least one of the invitations.

Remember you have two options. Which one is the smarter option? It’s pretty obvious right?

Guess which option most network marketers use?

Well, when it comes to network marketing, the majority of Networkers and Home Based Business owners are generally using option two..

Simply put, most networkers use ineffective “shotgun” marketing strategies because that is quite literally all they are taught.

This type of marketing just won’t get you very far!

Most network marketers bombard their friends, family and strangers with horrible approaches, emails, flyers, and pray for a positive outcome which never happens.

The Problem With ‘Shotgun’ Marketing

If you are Coke Cola this form of marketing makes sense. Your target market is anyone and everyone. You have deep pockets to fund the marketing.

However, if you’re like me you have a budget for your marketing and you only want someone who is interested in your business opportunity and willing to build a business.

Today’s advancements in technology have literally enabled people to put up a fence around their lives:

    • Tivo has eliminated TV commercials
    • DVD has given us a way to watch a movie without advertising messages
    • Satelite Radio is a new way of listening to program to our liking
    • Newspapers and Magazines are being replace by Online sites (you can even get a local newspaper online)
    • Direct Mail has become expensive and the response is declining
    • Placing a business card on the car windshield, bulletin boards etc. is becoming very annoying
    • And who wants to wear a Button

Conclusion: Traditional networking and traditional marketing continues to become less effective as it becomes more expensive.

This marketing is something that has many network marketers and home based business owners scratching their heads, because what use to work, is no longer working.

There is a solution however, still not known to over 95% of network marketers.

As of last year, over 50% of all retail in the US economy is now being conducted ONLINE!

What Does Online Network Marketing Mean to You?

Bottom line: If you have a network marketing business and you are NOT marketing online, you won’t last very long. You will soon find that the savvy Internet recruiters will start stealing your downline!

Let’s go back to our analogy of getting that invitation out to Auntie Bee.

With traditional network marketing you are pretty much blind as to WHOM you are addressing. You have dropped 10,000 pieces and hope someone will respond – you have no idea their interests, their tendencies, and more importantly, if they are at all likely to be interested in what you have to offer.

It’s really no different than paying hundreds or thousands of dollars publishing ads in a magazine, broadcasting ads on the radio or even dumping tons of invitations over Chicago in the hopes that one of them gets to Auntie Bee.

Sadly, that is all most home based businesses know about marketing – blindly advertising through untargeted mediums to unknown visitors with the false hope of returning a profit.

With online marketing, you aren’t interested in marketing to everybody…your marketing is “sniper-like accuracy.”

You are only interested in those who have an interest in what you have to offer and you will only market on those who have demonstrated an interest in what you have to offer.

How do you do that?

Simple. Attraction Marketing

Well, when 90% of internet users are using Google, Facebook and YouTube for searching, you can bet that these platforms can tell you what a particular person is interested in.

Building Your Online Attraction Marketing System

You have to look at marketing as a funnel – you start with a wide top that captures people who are interested in the product or type of business opportunity you have to offer and you qualify these people at each level down of the funnel.

As you proceed with your marketing, your prospects proceed further down that funnel, qualifying themselves more and more – all on complete auto-pilot!

Ultimately, you end up with only the diehards, the hardcore and those whom cannot wait to purchase your product or join your business opportunity and salivating for the opportunity to get started. (Yes, these people do exist)
